Well, last Friday was an amazing day. The Northern Grid for Learning 10th Annual Conference was a big success.

The morning keynote in which I was involved was well received even after I lost Internet access for 10 min. in the middle of the presentation.

I attended a workshop by Andrew Stogdale from Redcar on computer games in the classroom which seemed to be one of the most popular sessions during the day. Andrews enthusiasm and detailed descriptions of the benefits of using such technologies with young children gave us all food for thought. I cam away with a renewed interest in following up some ideas I have initially had on the subject.

The final keynote of the day was just awesome. Pupils from secondary and primary schools presented a “live” TV show which included recorded delegate interviews from throughout the day, green screen mixing, pre-recorded news items and a host of other articles on innovative teaching and learning taking place in schools across the region. The whole thing was inspirational and it made me proud that I can say I am playing my part in spreading such good work in my Local Authority.

Now I just can’t wait for next year.
